Hi, Everyone
India also has its National Education Policy which was first established by PM Indira Gandhi in the year 1968. After, this in 1986 a new education policy was established by Rajiv Gandhi, and after this one more new education policy has been introduced in the current year that is 2020 by PM Narendra Modi.
Now, since the new education policy has been introduced on the 29th of July 2020, many changes have been brought into our education policy/system and some people think that this new education policy is better than that of 1986 and on the other hand some people think that the old education policy of 1986 was better than the new one.
So, today we are going to analyze both the education policies of 1986 and that of 2020.
(Note - This analysis will be based on my opinion, you may give your opinions in the comment section.)
- National Education Policy of 1986

This National education policy was introduced in 1986 by Rajiv Gandhi. This policy's main goal was mainly to achieve equality in educational opportunity especially for Indian women, Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes. To achieve this goal many scholarships and Adult Education were laid out, and also schools started recruiting teachers from the Schedule Castes. During this Education Policy ''Operation Blackboard'' was launched to improve the primary Schools nationwide.
- National Education Policy of 2020

In 2019, the ministry of Human Resource Development drafted a New Education Policy.
The main goal of this new Education Policy was to reduce the curriculum content to enhance student's essential learning, critical thinking, and analysis based learning. The policy is a comprehensive framework for elementary education to higher education and vocational training in both rural and urban India.
This Education Policy also talked about the change in the pedagogical structure from a 10+2 system to a 5+3+3+4 system, from 6 to 8 mid school and from 8 to 11 high school and 12 onwards graduation.
From 6th std vocational courses will be available and from 8th std students will be able to choose subjects.
Now, onwards any degree will be of 4 years and for any graduation course if a student completes only one year of the course he/she will be given a basic certificate and for completing 2 years he will get a diploma certificate and for completing the whole course he/she will get a degree. This policy also states that no one will be forced to learn a particular Language.
This policy aims to change the Indian education system by 2040.
On the 29th of July 2020, the cabinet approved this new education policy.
- Analysis
Now we have seen both the policies in a brief and according to me both the policies are good in their own way as the policy of 1986 was mainly focussing to equalise learning between every social or religious group in India and the policy of 2020 is mainly focussing to improve abilities like critical thinking and vocational training in a student.
So, I think both of these Policies are Good in their own way, and provide benefits to give freedom and equality in the field of education.
So, that's it for today and do write your opinions on this topic in the comment section below.

DeleteWhat do you think about "encouraging" education in regional languages? In my personal opinion, the impetus should have been on "2-language school". This means that a few subjects are taught in one language and a few in the other. The English language is what makes us all equal in our amazingly diverse country and is the reason, we Indians are considered "smart" and "successful" in international communities.
