The Indo-Pak War of 1947 (The First Kashmir War)

The Indo-Pak War of 1947, also known as 'The First Kashmir war'
was fought between two newly independent states, India and Pakistan over the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir.

What was the duration of the war?

The war lasted 1 year 2 months and 2 weeks i.e from 22 Oct' 1947 - 5 Jan' 1949.

Where was the war fought?

The war was fought at Kashmir.

Result of the war

The war had resulted in a ceasefire agreement i.e LOC (Line Of Control) between POK and India.

Territorial Changes

Pakistan controls 30% of Kashmir i.e Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

India controls the rest of the Kashmir i.e Kashmir valley, Jammu, and Ladakh.
