1] Pokhran-1 or Smiling Buddha [India's first nuclear test]
Smiling Buddha (Pokhran-1)was the assigned code name for India's first successful nuclear bomb test held on the 18th of May 1974. The test site for this test was Pokhran, Rajasthan. The Indian ministry of external affairs had characterized this test as a "peaceful nuclear explosion"
Pakistan's Reaction - Pakistan didn't view this test as a "peaceful nuclear explosion." Pakistan also said that this test will force Pakistan to test its own nuclear bomb.
2] Pokhran-2 or Operation Shakti
Operation Shakti the assigned code name for Pokhran-2 India's second nuclear test. It consisted of testing of 5 bombs out f which one was a fusion bomb while the remaining were fission bombs.
The test for the First three bombs was held on 11th May 1998 at 15:45 hours and the testing of the remaining 2 bombs was held on 13th May 1998 at 12:21 Hours. These tests were done secretly by India as the other nations were not in favor of it.
Pakistan's Reaction - Pakistan said that India had started a race of nuclear tests by doing this test and had also said that Pakistan is prepared to match India.
