What is the Kashmir Conflict?
Kashmir conflict is a territorial conflict mainly between India and Pakistan.
The conflict had started during the partition of 1947 as both India and Pakistan claimed the entirety of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the 'Instrument of Accession,' signed in 1947, Jammu and Kashmir is owned by India, but Pakistan claims Jammu and Kashmir based on its majority Muslim population.

Due to the Kashmir Conflict 3 wars had taken place between India and Pakistan.
1] The Indo-Pak War of 1947-48
2] The Indo-Pak War of 1965
3] The Indo-Pak War of 1971
The area occupied by Pakistan and India in Kashmir (POK)
India controls almost 55% of the state which includes the Kashmir valley, Jammu, the Siachen glacier, most of the Ladakh, and 70% of its population.
Pakistan controls almost 30% of the state which includes Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. (POK)
The remaining part of the state is captured by China during the Sino-Indian War of 1962. (Aksai Chin)
